Educate key staff
  • Make sure your HR and EAP personnel are aware of CalVet and offer us as a resource to veteran employees and their families.
Spread the word
  • Create a veterans' resource page for your intranet using content provided by CalVet.
  • Make CalVet brochures available in your HR office and/or employee break rooms. Include a CalVet brochure and Veterans Resource Book in the new employee packet of veteran employees.
  • Request a CalVet article for your employee newsletter or send an all-staff e-mail. Nearly everyone has a veteran somewhere in their life with whom the information can be shared.
  • Invite CalVet to speak at your next employee resource fair or lunch-and-learn event.
Brag openly
  • Share news of your CalVet partnership with your Facebook and Twitter followers and friends. Send a press release to announce your efforts to hire veterans and help veterans on staff.
Recruit and hire veterans
  • Veterans are trained to be team focused, mission oriented, responsible, respectful and accountable. State and federal tax breaks are available for hiring certain veterans.
Advertise with CalVet
  • Place an ad in the California Veterans' Resource Book. Use your ad to promote your business or to recruit veteran employees.
Provide promotional underwriting
  • Underwrite co-branded paid public service announcements in select media markets.
Sponsor a CalVet veteran service project
  • California Veterans Conference – Fall 2012
  • Mexican American Veteran Memorial Beautification, State Capitol grounds
  • California Veterans Resource Book – published annually
Broker community partnerships
  • Introduce CalVet to your contacts within other businesses and organizations that might be willing to support our efforts to reach and assist veterans.
Hook us up
  • Help CalVet connect with high profile veterans, actors, comedians, musicians, athletes or other celebrities who might be willing to work with us on a pro bono basis.
Make a donation
  • Donate money to VetFund, a nonprofit foundation that helps CalVet serve veterans. Your donation may be tax deductible.
Encourage volunteerism
  • Encourage employees to volunteer their time and talent with any nonprofit veteran service organization.
